Why generic review requests produce weak responses
A message such as "Please leave me a review" gives the client a blank page. A better request reminds the client of a real moment without writing the review for them. That moment might be a difficult inspection, a clear pricing conversation, a fast document correction, or the day the keys arrived.
The request should help the client remember their genuine experience. It should not suggest praise, hide a rating demand, or pressure the client to publish.
The complete real estate review request prompt
Write a review request message for [CLIENT NAME] who just [BOUGHT OR SOLD] with me. Reference one specific moment from their journey: [SPECIFIC MOMENT]. Ask for an honest review, make leaving it feel like a two-minute task, include where to leave it [PLATFORM AND DIRECT LINK], and give two neutral memory joggers about their genuine experience. Do not request a rating, prescribe positive language, or offer an incentive. Keep it under 100 words.
Illustrative output
Hi [Client First Name], congratulations again on [milestone]. I appreciated how we worked through [specific true moment] together. If you are open to sharing an honest review, here is the direct link: [review link]. If helpful, you might mention what the process felt like before and after that moment, or what helped you make your decision. No pressure, and thank you again for trusting me.
Use five inputs, not a blank instruction
- Client and transaction: identify the person and whether they bought or sold.
- True moment: choose one specific part of the real journey.
- Honest request: ask for the client's experience, not a positive rating.
- Direct link: give one clear place to complete the review.
- Neutral memory joggers: ask open questions without supplying praise.
Keep the request policy-safe
Google Business Profile guidance allows businesses to remind customers to leave reviews and provide a review link. Its policies prohibit incentives for reviews and selectively asking only for positive feedback.
- Do not offer a gift, discount, drawing entry, or service benefit for a review.
- Do not ask only clients you expect to leave a positive rating.
- Do not discourage critical feedback or route unhappy clients away from the review platform.
- Do not write the testimonial and ask the client to paste it.
- Do not include private transaction details in an AI tool or public review request.
Localize the timing and terminology
For the US and Canada, closing may fit the transaction language. In the UK, completion may be more natural. In Australia, settlement may fit. Use the platform, consent, privacy, and professional rules that apply to the client's market and your brokerage.
